Hi friend! How is your heart today? Would love to share some recent wins with you! Yesterday was a good snail mail day!
Listen to me read Veritable City—a poem recently published in I Will Set a Place for You, an anthology hand bound by the amazing Brooke Dreger of
I am utterly blown away by the beautiful care and attention to detail given to this project. I am so honored to be included as a contributor! Thank you, Brooke! You are a blessing!Congrats to
and more! I look forward to getting cozy and reading each special offering. In my Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2)
I have been known to retreat into myself—mostly when daylight wanes, and when heaviness feels like a literal cold blanket of snow. 90 km winds tore at rooftops and trees in central Alberta last week, wreaking havoc on highways and forcing everyone to stay home. I found my heart aching for the light. You too?
Growing season is coming, but for now, rest with me. Light the candle, drink the tea, pen the words—they are not without meaning. If you wonder whether or not the words are worth sharing, my guess is they are. There are people who need your God-breathed words, so shake off the fear.
And if you’re lucky, you’ll find yourself reading a poem that you penned on Spotify! Season 2 of the Poetry Corner (brought to you by The Way Back to Ourselves) and hosted by
and ) came out last week! Listen to me read my poem, Meteor, about how God ministered to me through the night sky. He’s all around if you are looking. It may be cold outside, but let the wintry night sky speak peace over your soul.Be sure to listen to the other amazing poets as well.
and more!Friend, let this be the year of living fully into who we are as Christ followers. I have wrestled with lies for too long—eating away at identity, corroding the essence of whose I am. As Christ followers, we know better.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1 ESV)
If you can’t find me, look for me scribbling down messy thoughts in a journal. When I don’t reach out to you, it’s not for lack of care. I hope you feel you can “pick up where we left off” after long absences. I am simply fallow and trying to regain some of the nutrients needed in order to grow. Maybe you are growing too, your insides being stretched and reshaped in light of a loss. Keep trusting the good good Father. I am not the same person I was before. Words have become a monument, writing a balm—and I couldn’t be more grateful. More goodness is on the way.
Let me leave you with the reminder that God has set a place for you. He is the way, the truth, and the life, so let not your hearts be troubled. As Psalm 23 reminds us, [he] prepares a table before [us] in the presence of [our] enemies. May your cup overflow this coming week.
I’m so glad the book reached you safe and sound 😊 thank you again for submitting this wonderful piece to the anthology!
All of this is amazing!!!!!
